Features of Global Village

It is not intended that Global Village will support every feature of xplanet, but support for the features as seem sensible for displaying of images on the desktop background.

Supported XPlanet Features:

• Select a planet.
• Select a projection.
• Body's North Type.
• Rotate the body's North Pole


See larger
• The Zoom level
• The Suns glare
• Latitude and Longitude, which can be set as:

North Pole
South Pole
Equator
Random Latitude and Longitude
Or any number of user configerable locations.

Additional Features in a random order:

• Near instant previews. (0.32 seconds on an old intel P4-2.8 box)
• Earthquake Plugin. (others to follow when the plugin sub-system is considered stable-ish)
• Able to force a 2:1 ratio rendering for non-2:1 ratio desktop displays. Currently centered on the desktop vertically.
• Refresh Display at user request rather than wait for the next scheduled update.
• Recent Fires plugin.

It is not intended that Global Village will support every feature ever imagined, but if you have an idea let us know. Support for any features as seem sensible for displaying of images on the desktop background will be considered.
